Update – 7 November 2024

Why be a partner? Huge reach. In their first event, the 2024 Global Solo Challenge reached a total audience of 80 million people. The skippers brought a combined following of 750,000 with a reach of 25 million. The race organisers had a following of 134,000 and a reach of 10.2 million, 13.4 million page views, and sailing coverage totalling 3.5 million enthusiasts. Television distribution included 106 channels, in 157 countries (over 800 million households) with an estimated actual audience of over 40 million.

The Global Solo Challenge 2027- single handed, non stop, round the world via the Southern Ocean. We have a terrific boat and platform to build on during the lead up to the race. Sailing over the summer of 2024 has been a success and the boat is fast, reliable and still has a lot of potential to be better. The boat has winning capability – we just have to execute and extract it.

A three year runway to the start of the Global Solo challenge puts us in a place to offer a great package to partners, for brand or team building, or both. Our small team can be fully engaged with partners for the whole race lead time, ensuring success and high ROI, with ample time remaining for us to train and optimise the boat.

We are fortunate to have some great technical partners (Lopo Lights, Armare and others) and we are now looking for new partners to participate in the program. We can offer branding or sailing at a range of levels.

I would welcome the chance to explain what we are doing, how it makes sense to join on our journey, hear what you need, and have you experience the boat. henry@355racing.com

Blog posts – journey to the start line

  • Launched – some photos

A huge day. Put the keel in the boat, the boat in the water and tested the keel ‘swing’. All perfect. Huge win.

  • Soft launch tomorrow

The litmus test. Lift the boat, put it on its keel. Put the boat with keel in the water and see if the keel swings as designed (assisted by the hydraulic ram). Time will tell. Not much time.

  • Rams.

A big ram and a small ram. Ram and ram swing now in place. Intermediate step below…. For now, the basic hydraulic functions are ok (ram extends and retracts). The software has a few bugs… but we will fix that. Tomorrow, we will go in the direction of putting the boat on its keel and…
